Spring 2010 Portfolio Objectives

We have decided to post the goals and objectives that we plan to accomplish for the portfolio during the Spring semester (2010). This should give future portfolio managers a better understanding of how we came about our investment decisions.

One of our first objectives was to update the excel spreadsheets to correctly reflect our positions and their sector weights so that we could decide how to properly allocate our future assets.

  2. I've been analyzing portfolio and realized, that it would be great if our "predecessors" have left us some kind of journal or comments stating their objectives and reasoning behind the stocks that they have purchased. In particular, it would be helpful to understand what was their reasoning behind the purchase of the Western Digital stock... I think it would be helpful for the next generation of the Portfolio Managers to understand why we bought particular stocks and what our expectations about its performance are.

  3. Anna,

I think that a journal for our predecessors would be a great idea. Perhaps we could put a tap here on the blog where we can explain our reasoning behind why we choose to buy or sell particular stocks.

I was wondering if the managers have decided the next topic for the analysts to research and present for the upcoming week? I have a very demanding schedule just like you guys and the sooner I can start researching, the better my presentation will be. Ryan mentioned consumer durables after class when I asked him, but I would just like to make sure before I begin...Thanks for your time,

  5. Thanks for your quick response. It appears that I will have plenty of time to prepare something in those sectors. Maybe next class we can bounce around some ideas of potential (specific) companies to research, I know that was very helpful in the last class. Talk to you later,

    Steven
